New Transcargo B.V. website live!

Our updated website is up and running at the familiar address: www.transcargo.nl. We devoted a great deal of time and attention into creating an excellent and appropriate corporate image – something we certainly accomplished! But more importantly, we wanted to ensure you could navigate our site quickly and easily.

We therefore created extra options that allow you to check your inventory status or signed bills of lading, quickly and easily request a quote using the separate button on our homepage, or check the monthly driving bans in any European country – to name just a few examples!

Our homepage contains regularly updated news bulletins and a handy overview of the services we offer. All of our pages can be viewed in Dutch, English, French or German. We hereby invite you to visit our brand new website!

Transcargo BV spreads its wings

Transcargo BV is currently researching the possibility of opening its own branch in Southern Europe – Verona, Italy to be exact. Verona is strategically advantageous to our intermodal transportation links and has excellent ferry connections to and from Greece. We have noticed a steady flow of goods to and from this area via the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium and we have also observed significant trade between Greece and Italy. Our strength lies primarily in combining various types of transportation so we see tremendous opportunities for collaboration with Transcargo Hellas in Greece. We will travel to the area at the end of April to visit several regular customers and prospects. We’ll keep you posted!

Transcargo BV joins the Pangea Logistics Network

On 27 March 2012, Transcargo BV became an official member of the international Pangea Logistics Network, which means our global network will expand significantly. With 320 affiliated logistics providers in more than 85 countries, Pangea Logistics Network is an important partner for Transcargo BV to work with. We are one of only two Dutch companies to have met Pangea Logistics Network’s conditions and requirements – a feat we are definitely proud of!

This step means we were able to expand our network in terms of our sea and air cargo. We look forward to the opportunities and synergistic effects this international connection will undoubtedly bring.

‘Fashion moves… let us do it for you!’

As it has ‘Designer Outlet Roermond’, the city of Roermond boasts the largest fashion outlet centre in Europe. Naturally, this is something we want in on! We are offering our logistics services under the motto ‘Fashion moves…let us do it for you!’ to the tenants of the Designer Outlet Roermond.

These services include temporary suspended or wrapped storage with online inventory maintenance, goods packaging and re-packaging, and product labelling and shipping. The short distance between the Designer Outlet Roermond and our location allows us to deliver and collect goods on demand within the hour - a service we have already provided to the satisfaction of several companies in the Designer Outlet. Our experienced and skilled employees ensure a perfect logistical process from start to finish. Our lines of communication are short and our work is carried out in small teams.

Did you know...

… that fuel prices have once again soared to record heights? While this is certainly alarming, we strive to inform our clients of the anticipated fuel surcharges each month. Our rates are based on the average rate from the previous month, compared to the guide price from 1 January 2009.

… that we regularly support charities? Like last year’s Alpe d’Huzes (biking for cancer). This spring we will be supporting the Villa Joep fund for paediatric neuroblastoma.

… that we are redeveloping our website? The URL address will remain the same, but the look and ease of use will certainly change. We’ll let you know when we go live.

Signed bills of lading available online as of 1 February 2012

As of 1 February, all our customers will be able to view their signed bills of lading online via our website. This measure aims to reduce the amount of paper used for bills of lading in keeping with our policy on sustainable logistics. We are legally obliged to retain signed bills of lading for a number of years. In the past, copies were made of each bill of lading. We are now converting this paper-based archive into a digital-based one. You will later be able to use your personal login code and username, which will be sent to you in a separate email, to view your own archive directly at any time. This is simply another extra service we are offering you!

Start organisation refrigerated transport to and from Greece

In response to current conditions and market demand, Transcargo BV will start organising refrigerated transport to and from Greece as of 1 February. What is unique is the possibility of sending partial loads in addition to our usual full loads. Consignments are possible from as little as one pallet. Transcargo BV will offer this service for transport from Germany and the Benelux to Greece and vice versa.

As a result of the current economic situation in Greece, transport volumes to that country have decreased in size. After all, Greek customers are only ordering what they can pay for immediately. As regards consignments coming from Greece, we have noticed both partial loads and full loads being transported. As mentioned in our newsletter in December 2011, we have not only noticed a reduction in the transport of non-food items but also an increase in the transport of food. In addition, the requirements and standards for food transport are very rigorous. By offering refrigerated transport to and from Greece, we can respond to this need.

Transit times during the holiday season

During the Christmas and New Year period, Europe shall enforce various driving prohibitions. This may result in longer transit times than you have come to expect from us. For a current overview of the driving prohibitions, please call our planning department on + 31 (0)475 37 12 12.

We would like to wish you a wonderful Christmas and a happy and successful 2012!

Rates for 2012

We will inform all our customers about our new rates for 2012 before the end of this calendar year so you know what to expect in the New Year. Our rates are based on data from the NEA, an independent institute for transport research. Just as in previous years, the NIWO - the Dutch National and International Road Transport Organisation - asked the NEA to conduct an independent study. The results showed that transport costs rose by 2.5% in 2011 when compared to 2010 for cross-border transport and by 3.1% for national transport. This increase excludes fuel costs and toll charges.

We expect our rates for 2012 to increase by a maximum of 2.5% or 3.1% in the countries to which this rate applies.

Greece

Greece

As you may already know, Greece is one of Transcargo BV's most important countries. In view of the current situation and problems with the Euro, we will keep you up to date on developments. We are seeing a marked decrease in the number of consumer good and non-food transport flows to Greece. On the other hand, Greece is importing more foodstuffs. In addition, the number of exports from Greece has risen significantly over the period of a year.

More transport is now going by road where transport by sea was more common before. Various shipping companies have stopped their scheduled services and we have also noticed that volumes are generally declining. Transcargo BV specialises in partial and groupage shipments, a service we already provide and certainly one we will continue to provide. We dispatch several vehicles each day from Roermond to Greece.

Due to the current unrest, we are experiencing delays on a regular basis. Unfortunately, this is something we cannot control. We are naturally keeping a close eye on developments and will inform our customers immediately at all times. We try to take strikes into account and look for alternatives where possible. If necessary, we can take detours through the Balkan countries.
